Food aid cuts have created further anxiety for more than 6,000 refugees and displaced people from Shan State who have endured a precarious existence for years in camps along the Thai-Myanmar border.
On May 31, a massive warehouse explosion in Kaung Tap village, in northern Shan State’s Namkham Township, damaged hundreds of houses and killed dozens of residents, leaving survivors to deal with the aftermath and leading some to wonder whether it is even worth rebuilding.
